History
In 1899 Jacob Jong, a former grocer, established a seed company. Cor Beemsterboer, a baker's son, did the same in 1912. They subsequently evolved into selectors and breeders of cabbage, carrots and onions. |
In 1963 the two companies started to work together in the field of research (hybridisation of cabbage). Their cooperation proved most fruitful, so in 1978 the companies decided to merge. This marked the birth of Bejo Zaden. |
Bejo Zaden set up in business at Noord-Scharwoude (the Netherlands). In the 1980s the company greatly expanded its activities in the fields of research, production and sales. Several Bejo branches were established in countries outside the Netherlands. Since then, Bejo has continued to grow and has built a new office and seed technology center at Warmenhuizen (the Netherlands).
